Lloyds Banking Group gets 1,850 Complaints a Day
LLOYDS Banking Group received 288,717 complaints from customers from the start of the year to the end of June, 1,850 complaints every working day.
Lloyds attracted more complaints than the other banking brands within the Lloyds Banking Group including Bank of Scotland and Halifax.
Just 12% of complaints received by the banks resulted in a payout or an apology for the customer.
However, the Lloyds group pointed out that this figure is low because of the large number of cases that were settled in the banks’ favour following a test case on unauthorised overdraft charges.
On the other hand, it does seem unusually low given that the majority of complaints about insurance – largely the mis-selling of payment protection insurance – were resolved favour of the consumer.
54% of insurance complaints were resolved in favour of the consumer at Lloyds TSB and Bank of Scotland banks upheld over two-thirds of insurance complaints.
Should it put you off?
A Lloyds spokeswoman was quick to point out that the high numbers of complaints only reflected 1% of customers complaining during the first six months of the year.
"Our relationship with customers is at the heart of our business and we take feedback seriously," she said, "like every organisation we know there are areas where we can improve and we’re working with our customers to do that."
In terms of credit cards, Credit Card Comparison Online hasn’t noticed any anecdotal evidence to suggest that Lloyds Banking Group customers are receiving notably poor service.
Cards such as the Bank of Scotland All in One credit card and Lloyds TSB Airmiles Duo credit card continue to offer excellent introductory offers and good ongoing value for money.
It’s also worth noting that Lloyds isn’t alone in boiling its customers’ blood.
As expected, the figures from Spanish bank Santander revealed that in the first six months of the year more than 245,000 complaints were registered against it.
The bank has issued a formal apology.
